THE WORLD’S MOST FASHIONABLE ROYAL WOMEN…PART TWO

The last post has all covered some of the world’s most fashionable royal women. From young Asian queens to statuesque Swedish princesses, these lovely ladies have an impeccable sense of style.

Previously we’ve covered some of the most popular, prominent royals, but there are still plenty to go. Today’s post is going to cover some of the most elegant members of Europe’s various monarchies.

While this list certainly focuses on their fun fashion choices, nearly everyone on this list has one thing in common. These rebellious and fashionable royal women are unconventional, exciting, different, and no stranger to scandal.

While being a picture-perfect princess might work for some people, the fashionable royals on this list aren’t afraid to let everyone know – on their own terms – exactly who they are.

PRINCESS MARIA-OLYMPIA OF GREECE AND DENMARK

PRINCESS MARIA-OLYMPIA OF GREECE AND DENMARK

WHO IS PRINCESS MARIA-OLYMPIA?

Out of all the fashionable royal females on this list, Maria-Olympia looks like she’s having the most fun. This gorgeous 22-year-old is a princess, model, and jet-setting socialite. She attends Fashion Week in Paris.

She’s frequently spotted soaking up the sun in Santorini. She also lives in a fabulous apartment in New York City. In short, she’s living every girl’s dream life and enjoying every minute of it.

Like many European countries, Greece hasn’t had a true monarchy since 1973. While her title may technically be “honorary,” she’s got plenty of royalties to talk about.

She is the descendant of an American billionaire, a Greek king, and a Danish Queen, and even has distant ties to the British royal family. Her grandfather also invented duty-free shopping, so you can thank her every time you buy perfume at the airport.

With so many connections, it’s obvious that Maria-Olympia has lots of money and plenty of famous friends. If you need proof, just check out her Instagram. There, you can find photos of her sailing, posing, and prancing around in haute couture. For her 21st birthday, she partied with the Hiltons, Poppy Delevingne, and her stylish socialite friends.

Distantly related to the famous Von Furstenberg, it makes sense that fashion was in her future. Maria-Olympia has interned for Dior, modeled for Dolce & Gabbana, and now studies design at Parsons in New York City. Sassy, stylish, and unafraid of sparking rumors, this beautiful royal is definitely one to watch.

PRINCESS MARIA-OLYMPIA’S PERSONAL STYLE

This young blonde beauty would look good in just about anything. With that said, she doesn’t stick to proper ensembles that scream “I’m a princess.” Instead, she opts for edgy, fashion-forward outfits that are incredibly contemporary and current.

Her style is at times rebellious and revealing, but it’s always right on-trend. Her lux looks and lavish lifestyle definitely draws scrutiny from the press and public. I have a feeling, however, that Princess Maria-Olympia is having way too much fun to care.

I thought my birthday outfits were extra, but fashionable royal Princess Maria-Olympia takes the cake. She wore this incredible gown by Australian designer Steven Khalil at her 21st birthday celebration.

The princess looks stunning in this bold, colorful print from Louis Vuitton. Her sleek ponytail perfectly completes this elegant yet edgy outfit.

It doesn’t get much better than this incredibly chic outfit from Michael Kors. The cropped turtleneck and menswear-inspired trouser look brilliant when paired together.

With Diane Von Furstenberg as a relative, it makes sense she would have unlimited DVF dresses to choose from. Here, she paired a bold monochromatic print with opaque tights and sleek black booties.

When Princess Maria-Olympia goes to Wimbledon, don’t expect prim tennis whites. Instead, she paired a Ralph Lauren sundress with Doc Martin’s to add a bit of extra edge.

PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL OF GREECE

PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL OF GREECE

WHO IS PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL?

Want to know where Princes Maria-Olympia got her beautiful looks and impeccable sense of royal fashion style? Just take one look at her mom, the fashionable Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece.

The blonde beauty is another style star who absolutely rocks her royal title.

Marie-Chantal has been cultured and well-traveled from birth. The daughter of a billionaire, she was raised in Hong Kong before attending boarding school in Switzerland.

For a time, she was an Art History Major at NYU but dropped out following her engagement to Pavlos, the Crown Prince of Greece.

The couple went on to have five children together. Their first was Princess Maria-Olympia and the rest were all boys. After raising her children, started her own successful line.

Marie-Chantal is a high-end children’s clothing brand that is a favorite of celebrities. Her adorable outfits have been spotted on the offspring of Victoria Beckham and the Kardashian sisters.

PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL’S PERSONAL STYLE

Princess Marie-Chantal always looks cool, calm, and collected. Her striking blonde hair and fine features make her intimidatingly beautiful.

This is especially true when it comes to her stylish and sophisticated outfits. It doesn’t matter if she’s wearing a gown and a tiara or a crisp, tailored suit – Marie-Chantal looks like the kind of royal woman who owns every room she enters.

PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE OF NORWAY

PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE OF NORWAY

WHO IS PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE?

It’s safe to say that Princess Martha Louise is incredibly unique. Her interests and personal journey are definitely different than that of the other women on this list. With that said, her dynamic personality makes her fascinating – perhaps even more so than the other royals we covered so far.

Martha Louise is the daughter of Prince Harald and Crown Princess Sonja. She grew up to become a is a certified physiotherapist but has yet to practice professionally.

Instead, her diverse interests have taken her down a slightly different path. A lover of fairy tales, she spent some time singing and reciting Norwegian folk tales on television.

In 2002, she married a man with similar artistic tastes. Ari Behn is a Norwegian author who has published several novels and short story collections. The couple had three daughters together but recently divorced in 2017.

Princess Martha Louise has stated that although they couldn’t make their marriage work, they maintain a strong friendship. Her ex-husbands’ artistic side must have inspired Martha Louise. In 2004, she published a children’s book called “Why Kings and Queens Don’t Wear Crowns.”

This is where things start to get a little unconventional. Over the last decade, she has become very interested in holistic healing.  She also has made claims that she can communicate with angels, animals, and other spiritual beings. She also hangs out with people who claim they can talk to the dead, which leads to a public scandal.

In 2007, she opened a school called “Soulspring.” This education center is self-described as a “playground for self-development with a spiritual dimension.” While her spiritual beliefs have sparked outrage among the public, she hasn’t backed down. If magical fairy princesses do exist, Martha Louise is probably one of them.

PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE’S PERSONAL STYLE

Just like her outlook on life, Princess Martha Louise’s outfits have always been colorful. Her gowns have always been beautiful and bright. Patterns, prints, and other effervescent designs are the hallmark of her royal wardrobe. Lately, her looks have been a little more laid back. Her school’s website shows her wearing relaxed kaftans in the same palette of bright colors.

QUEEN MÁXIMA OF THE NETHERLANDS

WHO IS QUEEN MÁXIMA?

Maxima Cerruti was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which makes her the very first Dutch Latin-American Queen. This lovely lady has a bright, bubbly presence that is noticeable in nearly all her photos. Then again, I’d be beaming too if I got to live out a real-life fairy tale as she did.

Before she married into the Dutch royal family, Maxima was an accomplished businesswoman. She earned a degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina before heading to America for her Master’s.

During much of the 1990s, she worked in research and sales for several high-profile banking companies in New York City.

The next part of this story seems like it is straight out of a Lifetime Movie. In 1999, she attended a festival in Seville, Spain. There, she was introduced to a man named Alexander. The couple hit it off and instantly connected.

At the end of her trip, he dropped a bombshell – that he was actually the heir to the Dutch throne. She thought he was kidding, but he wasn’t. She invited him to visit her in New York City a few weeks later and the rest is history.

Their relationship wasn’t without a bit of extra drama, however. When word got out about their royal relationship, people in The Netherlands did some digging. It was no surprise that Maxima was from an affluent political family in Argentina.

However, people noticed that her father served as a political minister while some pretty shady stuff was going on. He was a high-up during the “Dirty War,” a period when 30,000 people were unjustly killed or went missing. He claimed he didn’t know about anything that went on during his time in office.

No one really believed him, unfortunately. Luckily, Maxima was still allowed to marry her handsome prince – her dad just wasn’t allowed to attend the wedding.

Since she took to the throne, she has been very active in charity work and Dutch national events. Maxima is a member of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Women’s Participation and leads teams that promote social welfare.

She also is one of the few royals to openly support gay rights and was the very first to attend an LGBT rights conference. While the outspoken Queen’s reign has been fraught with controversy, the fashionable royal Maxima doesn’t seem afraid of ruffling a few feathers.

QUEEN MÁXIMA PERSONAL STYLE

Queen Maxima looks, dresses, and acts as a modern-day royal should. Her looks are always the perfect combination of cutting-edge and classy. Chic pant suits and bright, vibrant colors are a huge part of her wardrobe.

With that said, she definitely knows how to dress to the nines when it’s time for an upscale royal engagement. For some outfits, you need a big personality to pull off, which makes Maxima the perfect fit.

The gown she wore at her royal wedding was simply a dream. The crisp, classic style was designed by Valentino and featured a 16.5-foot-long train.

Statement sleeves, platform heels, and a crazy feather hat – check, check, and check. This awesome look is over-the-top in the best way possible. Somehow, the muted colors bring it all back down to earth.

This is one of the best photos on this list, in my opinion. Anyone who can rock a neon blazer while cracking jokes with Barack Obama is certainly living their best life.

While all her bold looks are beautiful, this one might take the cake. Here, she wears a sleeveless blazer with matching trousers, both in a bright sunflower yellow.

Maxima looks stylish and stately in this gorgeous lace gown. Her sash, tiara, and incredible jewels make the entire look come to life.

PRINCESS CLAIRE OF BELGIUM

PRINCESS CLAIRE OF BELGIUM

WHO IS PRINCESS CLAIRE?

Claire Coombs was originally born in England to a British father and a Belgian mother. When she was just 3 years old, her family relocated back to her mother’s home country.

She stayed there through college, where she earned her degree in Land Surveying. She went to work for a Belgian surveying firm called Brone & Oldenhove.

In 2000, she met Prince Laurent of Belgium through mutual friends. The couple married in 2003 and she was granted the title “Princess of Belgium.” The couple went on to have 3 children.

Princess Claire has no official role within the royal family. Still, she is involved with charities that revolve around environmental causes or animals.

While the fashionable royal Princess Claire hasn’t been the subject of scandal, her husband certainly has. In 2006, it was alleged that Prince Laurent had used funds from the Royal Navy to renovate his house.

While no charges were officially filed it was reported that he was not allowed at the Royal Palace for a while. His controversies don’t end there. In 2011 he traveled to the Congo without respecting proper protocol. While no severe punishment ever came from these blunders, the Belgian press loves reporting about his royal missteps.

PRINCESS CLAIRE’S PERSONAL STYLE

Princess Claire has a knack for looking incredibly sophisticated. The royal mom is definitely not afraid of bright colors or other bold fashion choices. One look at her outfit repertoire and it is clear that Claire has a unique point of view.

The best part about her looks, however, has got to be her love of hair accessories. She is frequently photographed in oversized hats and elegant headbands. It’s clear that Princess Claire’s wardrobe revolves around her headgear, which is nothing short of spectacular.

poofy hair accessory, and Mondrian-inspired blazer.

It takes a bold woman to pull off an outfit like this one. Not just anyone can (or should) rock a severe bubble hem, poofy hair accessory, and Mondrian-inspired blazer.

The toile suit and matching fedora / pumps

This is another outrageous look that deserves an honorable mention. The toile suit and matching fedora/pumps are like nothing I have ever seen before. Orange gloves take it all to a completely new level.

colorful frock

While some of her outfits are quite unusual, she still knows how to rock a classic look. This colorful frock is refreshing and beautiful, especially when paired with a signature hat.

copper ballgown

Just because she makes some unconventional choices that are not exactly the most fashionable royals like others on the list, doesn’t mean she can’t also look elegant. This copper ballgown looks sophisticated and stunning with her glittering tiara.
